A band of thirty schoolgirls brave tensions, line-up changes and heartbreak to triumph at Europe’s top music festivals. Over the course of a year, the Sweethearts face the hardest lesson of all – when to let go.

After catching the eye of American soul legend Larry Dodson in Europe the girls find themselves on the brink of their biggest dream: their first tour of the U.S.A. They are crushed when their musical director and mentor falls seriously ill. A new director reinstates the tour, which exacerbates a division between the younger and older members. The more the band tries to unite, the more it disintegrates. It takes Memphis and the power of soul music itself to finally bond them together. When their gig at the world’s largest festival teeters on disaster, they transform it into a triumph. They prove to themselves they are great musicians, and fulfil the last dream of their mentor.
